The affordable PowerShot A480 by Canon has a 10 megapixel CCD sensor for capturing poster sized images, together with a 3.3x optical zoom for distinct close ups without quality loss.
Available in black, blue, red and white, the Canon PowerShot A480 is designed to be both sleek, fitting into the smallest of pockets, and easy to use with its simple button layout.
The PowerShot A480 features Canon's famous DIGIC III processor which provides fast response times, realistic colour reproduction and excellent image quality with its noise reduction system. In addition, the A480 comes with face detection technology which can recognise up to nine faces in a scene and automatically adjust the focus, exposure, flash and white balance in an instant, to capture the perfect shot. There is also red-eye correction and motion detection technology to reduce the effects of motion blur and maximise image quality.
There are 15 shooting modes to select from, to help the Canon PowerShot A480 detect the ambient conditions and adjust automatically. These include Auto, P, Special Scene (Portrait, Night Snapshot, Kids & Pets, Indoor, Sunset, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Aquarium, Long Shutter, Super Macro), Movie.
Furthermore, for convenience, the Canon A480 takes standard AA batteries. The life of the camera obviously depends on the specific type of AA battery you use, together with the shooting modes you select.
The PowerShot A480 captures movies in two modes: 640 x 480 at 30fps or 320 x 240 at 30fps.
