Available in matt black or brushed silver, the Fujifilm FinePix J100 has a 10 megapixel CCD sensor for crisp, vivid, poster-sized images, plus an impressive 5x optical and 5.7x digital zoom to get you close up to the action without noticeable quality loss.
If portrait shots are your thing, then the Fujifilm FinePix J100 comes with face detection and red-eye removal. The face detection will find up to 6 faces in the frame, then automatically adjust focus and exposure to best capture the image. Most compact digital cameras use a series of small flashes to remove the affects of red-eye, the FinePix J100 doesn't have this feature, but does come with an image processing alternative. The photo is captured as usual, but then the camera will automatically compensate and remove red-eye on the image. Not as effective as flash red-eye correction, but better than nothing.
Shooting in dark environments can be a problem with some cameras, but not so much with the Fuji FinePix J100. It has a high sensitivity mode which captures images at ISO 3200. You do have to compromise the image resolution to 3 megapixels, but this is more than enough for most shots.
With no image stabiliser, the FinePix J100 uses an anti-blur mode for capturing moving objects or reducing the effects of camera shake. Basically the anti-blur mode will increase the ISO sensitivity and decrease the shutter speed to reduce motion blur. Perfect for sports photography or when shooting children that wont sit still.
There are 13 scene modes to choose from, including: beach, fireworks and party. The FinePix J100 will adjust the white balance, exposure and shutter speed depending on which mode you select. This makes shooting images simple, and avoids the hassle of complex manual controls. Perfect for the beginner photographer.
A 2.7 inch LCD screen lets you preview your images and navigate the simple menu structure. There is also a micro thumbnail view on the FinePix J100w, giving you the option of viewing up to 100 images on screen at once.
