The 12.1 megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC FX40 not only detects faces, but can also recognise and remember them. You can store up to 6 faces, and prioritise focus and exposure settings for specific people, which together with the red-eye correction and optical image stabiliser, gives you great portrait and group photos every time.
The Lumix DMC FX40 isn't just great at taking photos of people though. With an ultra wide angle 5x optical zoom LEICA DC lens and 1/2.33-inch high-resolution CCD sensor, you can achieve excellent landscape shots. The wide lens captures a wider image than most other compact cameras, the 5x optical zoom lets you capture distinct close ups with no image degradation, and the 1/2.33 inch CCD sensor performs great in low light conditions.
If you want to record high definition movies, the Panasonic Lumix DMC FX40 has the capability. There are various movie options to choose from including: VGA: 640 x 480 pixels at 30fps, QVGA: 320 x 240 pixels at 30 fps, WVGA: 848 x 480 pixels at 30 fps, and HD 1280x720 at 30fps.
The intelligent auto mode featured on the Panasonic FX40 is great for point and shoot, hassle free use. Select the IA mode and let the camera do the work for you. It will adjust its settings specifically for the current ambient environment to achieve optimised pictures with ease.
There's also an intelligent LCD function featured on the Panasonic Lumix DMC FX40. The 2.5 inch screen backlight automatically changes brightness to save on power consumption in low light conditions, and to ensure visibility in bright outdoor scenarios.
In addition, the Lumix DMC FX40 includes the new Venus Engine V with dual CPU processors. This provides the extra processing power required to effectively recognise faces in your shots, with high accuracy and speed. The new processor also uses 15% less power than its predecessor, the Venus Engine IV.
