The Panasonic Lumix DMC LZ10 offers both functionality and flexibility with full manual control for the more advanced photographer, together with Panasonic's intelligent auto mode if you want point and shoot operation.
With a 10.1 megapixel CCD sensor and 30mm wide angle Leica DC lens, the Panasonic Lumix DMC LZ10 captures high resolution images at wide angles, wider in fact, than the average compact digital camera.
A 5x optical zoom featured on the DMC LZ10 lets you take distinct close ups without losing image quality, which is boosted by a 4x digital zoom for image cropping.
The manual control function on the Panasonic LZ10 allows photographers to set aperture and shutter speed manually in three modes: aperture priority, shutter speed priority or full manual.
However, if manual control isn't required, the DMC LZ10 still features Panasonic's intelligent auto mode which uses the optical image stabiliser, ISO control, scene selector, face detection and auto focus to capture and optimise the perfect image in an instant.
As with all Lumix models, the Panasonic DMC LZ10 features an intelligent LCD function. This detects the ambient light and adjusts the LCD brightness accordingly, in order to save on power consumption in dark environments, or ensure visibility in bright surroundings.
The Lumix DMC LZ10 doesn't come with a rechargeable battery pack, which makes it slightly cheaper than similar compact digital cameras in it's class. Instead the LZ10 takes standard AA batteries. The camera life obviously depends on the quality of battery you are using.
You can also capture movies with the LZ10 in a range of different modes: 640 x 480 pixels or 320 x 240 pixels at 30 fps and 10 fps, and 848 x 480 pixels at 30 fps or 10 fps.
