The relatively new TZ6 series from Panasonic features a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens with a staggering 12x optical zoom. This, together with the effective 10.1 megapixel resolution, out-performs most other compact digital cameras in this class. The Lumix DMC TZ6 also has a 25mm to 300mm angle setting, allowing you to be flexible with your photography.
In addition, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ6 features an IA (intelligent auto) mode with AF tracking and intelligent ISO control, giving improved performance for moving shots.
Most digital cameras in this price range feature digital image stabilisation, but the Lumix DMC-TZ6 has a MEGA optical image stabiliser which more effectively compensates for hand-shake while taking the photo.
As you'd expect, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ6 also comes with face detection and red-eye correction, helping you to achieve those perfect portrait shots.
The 2.7 inch LCD display features 230,000 dots, which makes it one of the highest resolution displays on the compact digital camera market. The display also automatically adjusts the backlight brightness depending on the ambient light intensity. This makes the Panasonic TZ6 a very practical camera to use, ensuring the display is at its brightest in low-light conditions, and preventing high power consumption in bright daylight surroundings.
Panasonic claim that their rechargeable li-ion battery can take about 320 pictures before it needs recharging, but this obviously depends on the particular settings you are running.
Furthermore, the shutter speed on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ6 is adjustable from 1/250 seconds to 1/2000 seconds.
Video capture is also a feature of the DMC-TZ6, three modes are available: VGA: 640 x 480 pixels at 30fps, QVGA: 320 x 240 pixels at 30 fps and WVGA: 848 x 480 pixels at 30 fps.
