Offering great value for money, the Sony Cybershot DSC S930 features a 3x optical zoom and 10.1 megapixels. Probably more suited to the beginner photographer that wants easy point and shoot operation.
The Cybershot S930 might not have as many features as some more modern, expensive models, but what it does do, it does very well. Excellent for portrait photography, the face detection system automatically identifies faces in your shot, then optimises the focus and exposure to capture them as best as possible. The SteadyShot technology featured on the Cybershot DSC S930 is a effective digital image stabiliser which reduces image blur caused by hand shake. Also, the Cybershot S930 has some in-camera retouching functions including image trimming and red-eye reduction.
In addition, the Sony S930 is available in black, silver or pink, and is very light, weighing just 118g without the battery. On the reverse of the camera is a 2.4 inch LCD screen which has a menu system designed to be as easy to use as possible.
There are seven scene selection modes for optimising the camera settings for different environments. These include Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Soft Snap, Landscape, Beach and Snow.
The Sony Cybershot DSC S930 also gives you the option of recording video in 320 x 240 resolution at 30 frames per second. This isn't amazing performance, but is fine for the beginner photographer.
There is no rechargeable battery pack included with the S930, instead it takes standard AA batteries. Obviously the battery life depends on the type of AA you use, together with the specific camera image settings you choose.
